Ambrogio Beccaria: “I never thought I could win. After 24 hours, I was close to thinking: I'm stopping, I can't head north without an autopilot, I don't trust it. And then, little by little, I managed to overcome all the problems I had. I gained confidence in the boat and in myself. The story unfolded gradually. I never in my life would have thought I could make up 200 miles. But in sailing, there's always a little bit of luck involved. This finish is beautiful, all the same. And when you see the opportunity there, you forget everything, you forget all the pain, all the suffering, and you just do what you love: fight.”

“We went very far north, and at one point we felt like we were approaching the end of the world. There was a kind of strange weather; we could hardly see anything, we didn't really know where we were. The cold was also quite intense. But it was like a dream that never ends; it lasted more than two days, this rather strange weather… We encountered waves of more than 3.5 meters twice during the race. That gave me a lot of confidence in this boat.”
